I could use help with accessing and editing google docs with the Braillenote touch and monarch.

We are having trouble with the Monarch crashing when working on high school math topics. We are waiting on the update for Monarch that will include email, so that we can use the Monarch for math at school and home. I also opened an APH TGIL account but cannot access it on the Monarch. Any help you can provide would be appreciated.

Will you share with me some details - what appears to be leading to the crashes? Or do you have a document or example that you could send me that is not successfully opening or working in the app?
The APH TGIL account is only necessary to access the site online. On the Monarch, if you go into the Tactile Viewer and then press Enter on “APH TGIL,” you will connect directly to the TGIL without needing to enter a username or password because it is a special and direct link to that site. You can also save files from the TGIL onto the Monarch using Tactile Viewer:
- Open a tactile graphic in APH TGIL using Tactile Viewer
- Press Space + S
- If you want to rename your file, type a new name in the file name edit box (your cursor will be located there automatically when you press Space + S)
- If you want to select a folder to save your file in, use the Monarch’s Page Up button and then directional keys (up or down) to move to the folder that you want, then press Enter on the folder
- Use the Monarch’s Page Down button to move to the Save button and press Enter

It is possible to go to the TGIL site using the Monarch’s web browser, and to download graphics onto the Monarch from there, but I do not recommend that right now because the navigation is difficult and the graphics do not transfer well to the Monarch. It is better to open them on the Monarch in Tactile Viewer, or to save documents from the TGIL using a laptop or desktop computer and USB drive and then upload onto the Monarch for viewing.
I am hopeful that the anticipated Monarch update will be available soon!

The problems that we have with crashes is when using KeyWord, the word processor and insert math with the Equation Editor Function. It all seems to go well until we close the Math Editor with Enter + M. It says it is “processing math”, then crashes. There have been many attempts with different math problems, but this seems to consistently happen. Do you have any suggestions? We have not yet tried going back to factory settings. I noticed that during the Q&A Session last week that at least two others seem to be having the same problem. Will the update help with this particular problem or is there something we can try in the meantime? Thanks for your help…
If it is a consistent issue that is occurring no matter how simple the math expression is, and a restart has not helped, I have found with many things like this that a factory reset does help. Here are the steps:
- Press Enter + Q for Quick Settings
- Press Enter on System
- Press Enter on Reset Options (last item in the list)
- Press Enter on Erase All Data
- Continue to choose “erase all data” until the Monarch shuts down
- Restart
You’ll have to go back to Configure Language Profiles in the Options menu (Space + O) and set up your preferences again, and resave any files onto the Monarch that you stored on a flash drive before the factory reset, but it doesn’t take very long.
I would love to hear whether this resolves the problem you are having with the Equation Editor crashing, and would also be happy to continue troubleshooting with you if necessary.
