We look forward to seeing you at the upcoming webinar: Power Up Braille Literacy with Polly on September 7th at 3:00pm Eastern. You can use this Discussion Board as a place to ask questions, make connections, and begin our conversation.
What would the Blue tube be used for?
Currently the Bluetooth is not active. This feature may be added in a future update.
I don’t have a Polly, I am just watching for future information.
Do you serve young children or students new to learning braille?
I have a pre-braille learner this year.
I requested a Polly, and they are currently on backorder I believe. But I am learning about it today so that I can hopefully be ready to start as soon as it (eventually) arrives!
I was wondering the same thing. When I get a Polly, can I merge work/home email? Is there a fee for the Helios? How often will the Helios be updated?
Helios does not have a fee, it is included with your Polly. Helios is updated on an ongoing basis.
Me too
Can you record your voice at any time for their name or only first time?
The voice recording can be changed at any time on Helios.
Can two instructors access the same student who is using the Polly?

You would need to share the Helios account for multiple instructors to see the student’s progress. This might be an option for say a small team of TVIs and have multiple units all set up on the single account for management/monitoring student progress.
We are also looking at adding a way to share a learner account between individual teacher accounts in a future update.
The presenter said there were lessons on “reading and typing” and “reading and writing.” We usually don’t use the word “typing” when talking about braille. Is there a reason?
This wording has been used to differentiate between the lessons that use the Perkin’s Style 6-key keyboard for input, and the lessons that use the digital braille slate for input.
Edited to add: reading and typing = input using 6-key keyboard, reading and writing = input using digital braille slate
How do we get to the lesson on Helios?
On Helios main menu go to Learners > Then click on individual learner > Homework
