KeyDrive

I’ve been exploring KeyDrive options. Can a user sign in to more than one cloud account via KeyDrive? Such as Microsoft?

Hello. Currently each cloud service, either Google or Microsoft enables you to log in with one set of credentials. So you can be logged into a OneDrive account and a Google Account, but currently cannot log into 2 OneDrive or Google Drive accounts.

Though you cannot be “logged in” to two cloud accounts on the same service, you can sign up with multiple cloud accounts on the same service. I have a Google drive for my job, one for my volunteer work with BITS (an ACB affiliate) and one for personal use. I was able to have KeyDrive connect to all three of these google drive accounts without an issue and switch between them, though I had to log out of one to connect with the other google profile. (You always have to do this with google anyway.)

For Microsoft, I also have a work and personal account, and though KeyDrive tried its best to connect me to both, my employer still needs to authorize KeyDrive as an app it allows to connect. Our I.T. of course had never heard of it and was therefore suspicious.

i am however logged in to one google account and my home one-Drive account at the same time and accessing the files is great.

The one issue I’ve had is that if I pull up an ePub file from the Files app, it complains it’s not supported but I can import it fine in to Victor Reader. Seems like the import process should begin automatically if I select the epub file.

Here’s another report on KeyDrive. As I said in other posts, it works perfectly. But my employer and not KeyDrive caused a problem.

I connected easily to my personal One-Drive account and also my two google drive profiles. I can transfer files from all three sources, and import files in to the Monarch apps from all three sources. Works great!

But when I tried to connect to my business one-drive account, sometimes called a Microsoft 365 account, I could not. When I tried to connect, I got my employer’s log-in page which worked but then a message appeared stating I couldn’t “authorize” KeyDrive without an admin account.

I contacted our I.T. department and they told me to send them a screen shot of the error. As far as I know that’s not possible with the Monarch. I explained it was an Android tablet with a Braille display. I sent them links to all the web pages about the Monarch with pictures, and I also sent them the v1.4 documentation.

They say they never heard of KeyDrive hence they cannot let it connect for security reasons. My iPhone connects because of course they know about Microsoft’s One-Drive app. My Fire tablet connects because the Amazon apps I use are also familiar to them. Even a funky old android phone I have connects because the file explorer third-party free android app it runs is familiar.

For personal use, it’s no big deal; I can always move files to one of the cloud storage solutions that works. But my employer is a large community college, and other users at other universities will have similar issues.

What’s needed is a technical document, written in some form of I.T.-speak that can aleviate their concerns. Our Office accounts are not only one-drive capable, they are also linked to SharePoint which no doubt is why they are so careful. There’s been a lot of financial aid fraud across California too which makes them hyper-conscious of security.

But this is why we field-testers do this. It’s not a problem for me, but I feel it’s my job as a Rise participant to make problems occur so APH can become aware of them.

My next step is to actually show our head of I.T. the Monarch, but I have also told them it is not necessary for my job to connect, it’s only something I want to do to be a thorough volunteer tester.
