Hi,
I look forward to meeting you for Monarch training in Chicago. Iā€™ve been working with the visually impaired for some time now, and have taught in Illinois, Kentucky, and Missouri. One of my students did field testing last fall, so I am excited to see the final capabilities of the Monarch!

Hello,

My name is Tina Van Buren. Iā€™m excited to learn so I can best reach and provide educational opportunities for my blind student. Thereā€™s a lot to learn. I just hope I can keep up to best serve my student.

I graduated from Liberty University with a concentration of K-8-general education studies in 1994. Then went back for my masters in Special Education from Old Dominion University. After having a VI student, I decided to embark on the vision endorsement about 10 years ago.

I love teaching and working with all students. I especially like being in the classroom environment making instruction accessible. Teaching braille for the past couple of years has been a wonderful journey and a blessing. I am ready for the challenge and am excited to bring instruction more accessible and in real time.

I love to stay in shape and enjoy hunting and fishing. I love being outside and enjoying all recreational activities.

Hello, Iā€™m Marinela and I was born in Boston but now residing in Daytona Beach, Florida. I teach Assistive Technology at a center that helps other blind people in the state gain independence. I received my Masterā€™s in December in Assistive Technology from George Mason University and about to go for my certification through the Rehabilitation Engineering & Assistive Technology Society of North America or RESNA.

I am glad to be here because I feel as though even as a visually impaired person myself I am seen as someone who canā€™t read despite being able to read Braille and use other means of reading. I think this Cohort would help learn some strategies in reading.

Hello I am new to all of this, and HAPPY to be here. I am excited to learn as much as I can because I am going to start a new teaching position in the fall. I have been teaching for 30 years, but have very little experience working with students with visual impairments.
