Course Description: In order to determine achievement goals in life, students must first know themselves. This course demonstrates how to skillfully and successfully offer students self-determination practice opportunities, within the platform of a remote instruction lesson.

Objectives

  • Describe how the terms self-awareness, self-confidence, and self-advocacy are interrelated.
  • Identify 5 details of self-awareness.
  • Identify 3 examples of positive self-talk.
  • Discuss 9 examples of emotional self-awareness.
  • Examine 3 examples of demonstrating self-confidence in one’s life.
  • Describe how the terms self-awareness, self-confidence, and self-advocacy are interrelated. Without knowing what you need or what you’re capable of, its hard to speak up or trust yourself.

  • Identify 5 details of self-awareness.
    clear understanding of ones feelings, thoughts, abilities, and desires. What you need to be advocate for yourself.

  • Identify 3 examples of positive self-talk? I’m am enough, I am worthy of love/respect, and I have something to offer others.

  • Discuss 9 examples of emotional self-awareness- Recognizing emotional triggers, what causes you stress, thinking about cause and affect (sleep, mood), patterns of when you feel the best maybe time of day, being aware of your feelings, and that big feelings are ok when managed, regulated emotions breathing/taking a break, identifying your emotions talking it out, physical signs of stress, me understanding what I need to be emotionally regulated (rest, clarity, time to think something through).

  • Examine 3 examples of demonstrating self-confidence in one’s life- feeling assured about one’s actions without need for reassurance, positive body language when communicating, accepting compliments, maintaining healthy boundaries with people or activities with no guilt.
