Why am I taken out of edit mode each time I save a document and exit KeyBRF?

I am wondering if this is expected behavior, or if there is a setting I can change so this does not keep happening. I have been enjoying creating and editing documents on my Monarch in Key BRF. I find it odd however that, after I save a document and exit the app, the next time I open the document it is in reading mode, not editing mode. Of course it’s not really a problem to press space with X in order to put it into edit mode again, but I would love it if my documents were always in edit mode unless I change them to reading mode. This is expected behavior to enter a saved file in read only mode to keep any accidental editing of the file.

You can press Space with the letter X to enter Editing mode and begin editing your file.

Thank you very much for this. I understand why this is happening, and I understand how to get back into edit mode. However, for a person just starting to use the Monarch, this is not how I would expect it to behave. I’m guessing this is covered in the user guide… Now you know I have not read the user guide cover to cover, nor have I completed the module about Key BRF! So that’s on me. But, I’ve been using braille notetakers and displays for several years, and this is not the way any of them have behaved. Also, this is not the way a typical word processor on a computer behaves. How do I suggest a possible new setting where you can decide whether you want saved documents placed into read only mode while saving, or whether you want them able to be opened in edit mode? To me, this would make much more sense, and would often avoid the extra step of putting the document in edit mode.
