Editing an existing file-trouble shooting

While working with a sophomore in high school student, we are encountering an odd challenge!

In a document, created by the teacher (accessible), and loaded onto the Monarch, the student can navigate and edit the file, up to a point, and then it stops navigating past that spot. The braille cursor does not go past that point, pointing and clicking to move the cursor does not work either.

This has happened in several documents lately and we cannot figure out the reason for the difficulty.

Any help?

Hi Amy!

Would it be possible to send me a document you are using where this is happening? If you have two or three affected documents that you could attach, that would be even better. You can add them here in the discussion board or send them to me at jwheeler@aph.org.

2.6 worksheet - Rates, Ratios, and Proportions.docx (13.7 KB) Cursor stopped between numbers 11 and 12.

2.6 Bookwork.docx (15.4 KB) This document worked all the way through.

2.5 book work.docx (13.9 KB)This document stopped after number 30

Hi Amy,

I don’t know if this will be helpful, depending on what you are experiencing, but I found that if I waited until each document fully loaded and appeared - I didn’t push any buttons as I often do when I am waiting for something that is taking a long time - I was able to see the entirety of each of them and to navigate all the way to the bottom. If I got impatient, the document didn’t fully load and I could only go so far, as you described. The Monarch is a little sensitive about math-heavy files like these.

You also may have discovered this already, but Page up/Page down are better navigation tools for these documents than the directional pad (up/down on the plus button).
