Enroll Now!!

Course Description: How can orientation and mobility specialists support students in developing more accurate and independent movement skills? This course explores the role of proprioception in O&M instruction and introduces the Rosen Method as a framework for assessing and improving mobility technique performance. Participants will learn how to identify movement errors, assess proprioceptive awareness and range of motion, and apply facilitation strategies that support motor learning, self-correction, and independent performance.

ACVREP Credit: 5 Hours

Objectives:

  • Explain the relationship between proprioception, motor learning, and successful performance of O&M techniques.
  • Assess and analyze student movement using observation, range of motion assessment, and proprioceptive assessment procedures to identify barriers to accurate technique performance.
  • Interpret assessment findings to determine root causes of movement difficulties and develop targeted intervention plans.
  • Implement and adapt proprioceptive facilitation strategies to improve student awareness, self-correction, independence, and generalization of O&M skills.
