Itinerant and Mentor TSVI
The New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired is seeking an Itinerant and Mentor TSVI. The Itinerant and Mentor TSVI will provide instructional support to the Instruction Department and area school districts, by providing direct services to students with visual impairments within the local area districts to NMSBVI Main Campus. Duties will also include student assessment, support to districts in developing and participating in IEP meetings, direct service, and consultation and support to district teachers and related services providers to include triannual evaluation considerations. The Itinerant and Mentor TSVI will also provide mentoring supports to TSVIs on NMSBVI Main Campus, to include ensuring alignment with emerging best practices, innovative ideas and new technologies, developing and providing professional development opportunities, and supporting staff in completion of functional vision assessments and learning media assessments. Bachelor’s Degree or higher, degree/certification as a Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments. Three years working as a Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments required. Valid NM Public Education Department license required. Previous experience with special education and multiply impaired preferred. This is a 9-month position.
