How to display tactile graphics in the Monarch?

Hi everyone!

I’m doing some research on how to display tactile graphics on the Monarch and was hoping to learn from your experience.

I’ve read through this helpful thread here in the community, which gave me a good understanding of how to create the graphics themselves. What I’m still unsure about is how to actually send those graphics to the Monarch for display.

A couple of things I’m wondering:
• Does the Monarch support screen mirroring? Something like connecting from a tablet or PC to preview or interact with graphics in real time?
• Is there a serial or developer mode that would allow me to send files or graphics directly for display?

If anyone has insight into this—or has tried something similar—I’d really appreciate your thoughts. Thanks in advance for any help!

Hey Carlos!

I currently use Word to create my graphics. After they care created, you save them as a PDF and onto a flash drive. You then insert the flash drive into the Monarch and the go through your files to locate it. It will then display on the Monarch.

For screen mirroring, I connect my Monarch to a portable screen (there are several to find on Amazon that are reasonably priced) and this will display what is on the Monarch. I do not use my laptop screen for this.

There are updates and programs in the works that you can use to create graphics and send them directly to the Monarch, but they are not available yet.

Hope this helps!

Carlos, here is the link for a monitor. There are several out there. I have purchased two of these and love them.

Hey Benjamin!

Thank you so much for your response, this is very helpful!

Screen mirroring might help to what I need to do, but I was more interested in directly sending the graphics to the Monarch, without having to send them over using a flash drive or similar. Do you happen to know anything about this, or where to look? It’s completely ok if not! I really appreciate your response!

Hello, APH Is going to by testing out an app for an iPad that will be able to do what I understand you are wanting to do. I having heard if they have selected the group yet or not. I am looking forward to this feature too!

Hi Carlos! The options that we have right now for viewing graphics on the Monarch are to use Tactile Viewer with the APH TGIL, open them from a flash drive, or download them from an Internet source as PDF files. Wing-It will be released soon, and this app will allow a user to draw graphics using an iPad as they appear in real time on the Monarch. We are looking forward to more options becoming available in future updates.
