Colorado Commission for the Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and DeafBlind Commissioner Vacancy
Seeking DeafBlind Commissioner
Seven governor-appointed commissioners of the Colorado Commission for the Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and DeafBlind advise Colorado Department of Human Services staff regarding the needs and challenges of the deaf, hard of hearing, and deafblind communities. Commissioners serve four-year terms. Each member represents one of the following communities: deaf; hard of hearing; deafblind; late-deafened; auxiliary service providers; professionals; and parents.
Currently, one position is vacant: DeafBlind Commissioner.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed person for this position. If you are interested in filling this vacancy, please complete this application by March 1, 2025.

Currently, commissioners receive no paid compensation for their service, but travel expenses are reimbursed in accordance with state travel regulations. This policy is changing in 2025, so commissioners will be compensated for their time and effort.
Commissioner duties include, but are not limited to:
- Monitoring the functions and performance of the commission.
- Attending quarterly and special commission meetings.
- Preparing for commission meetings.
- Becoming familiar with the needs of your specific constituency.
- Serving on a committee of the commission.
- Representing the commission before the public, businesses, and community.
As per the 2025 roll-out of the CDHS member-compensation policy, commissioners will be compensated for their time participating in and preparing for commission meetings.
