Hello, I am am a BT who had a VI student in my district wher I started learning braille and guiding; sadly due to medical things out of my control I had to step down and go onto FMLA for my grad program and work. While I’ve been greiving all the sudden changes, it hasn’t stopped my interest in learning to transcribe. I want to take this time to learn this skill so I can upcycle old library books for early readers to have main stream books in their local classrooms, school and city libraries, if I can get enough books and put transcribed embossed tape I can make a big impact as we have school for the blind, a large VI program in our school district, and if I can do it right, it could spread to neigbhoring districts as well. I also encourage art-play-based using whole body learning to teach art, native habitat restoration, and sensory gardens. I’m in So Cal looking for support/ tutoring group too. If anyone has any good resources please let me know! I have found a few from my local school district transcriber who has been a god-send, gratituuuuuude!
