Course Description: Because it’s common for students with VI to arrive at school with inadequate gross motor skills and knowledge of sports (due to the lack of incidental learning), decreased daily movement and subsequent health-related issues may result. This course will provide viewers with information to help coach students with visual impairments in four sports and to navigate strategies and modifications that lead to lifelong sports participation.

Objectives

  • Name and describe three teaching strategies for coaching students with Visual Impairment, Deafblindness.
  • Describe the Whole-part-whole approach for at least two sports.
  • Identify 4 game and orientation modifications.
  • Identify 3 tips for coaching students with deafblindness.
