Sierra,
You and I seem to have similar roles. I would love the opportunity to learn more about what you do. I am also interested in your take on the course materials and how you might push out the information to your team.
Patty
Wendy,
I would love to know more about the supports and training you provide with regard to the assessment process.

Hello from Pittsburgh! My caseload is mostly with student with visual impairments and multiple impairments. My caseload is going to change because a large-percentage student unexpectedly graduated.
Hello, I am Megan Meseck, Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments and a Certified O&M Specialist. I work at the Allegheny Intermediate Unit as an itinerant teacher with Barb and Patty, who are in this cohort. The majority of the students that I serve have a diagnosis of CVI. All but one of my students have O&M. I am excited to learn new things and to get ideas and best practices to serve my students in the best way.
Hi Alison,
I also have a mix of students that are diagnosed and some who present. I am mostly in one building run by my Intermediate Unit that serves students with multiple disabilities. I also travel to three buildings to serve children in the nearby school district. Most of the kids that I serve at the IU school are ages 16 and above.
Hi Lauren, I dedicate a day per city and go between schools to minimize time for travel, as best as I can. We are lucky to be able to dedicate more time to our braille students so I support my braille student for 50% of my week but sometimes do get pulled to other students if needed. It’s definitely a juggling act!
I can’t wait to collaborate in the next few weeks!
Hi I’m Rika Yamamoto. I am a parent of youth who has CVI. I am also a president of local Special Education PTA. I am a trained Special Education Advocate . I also took numbers of trainings for evidence based practices for Autism and other developmental disabilities which could be helpful to be adopted for educating children with CVI as well. I am in SF Bay area , Northern CA. For Special Education PTA , our PTA aim to serve preschool ~ post secondary students with diverse disabilities and providing afterschool program and supporting parent’s participation in their children’s education. I am excited to learn for Developing Interventions for Children with CVI. Happy to participate in this cohort and hope to learn from all of you. Thank you.
Hi Susan,
I am also an OT by background but went back to school and I am now working a licensed TBVI (I have kept up my OT and ATP licensure). I look forward to connecting with you over this Hive course from the OT framework. You have quite the large area to cover in your job…wowza!
Hello Amy- I teach in Moorhead, quite a ways away from you. My husbands family is all from Albany. I don’t know of any Amy’s in the family, but am discovering there are many Wolfs across the state. How long have you been a TVI?
Hi Trish, I like the idea of having only grades 5-12. I have birth-22 years and I struggle knowing everything I should know about curriculum, development, and expectations for all of those ages. Although I am lucky in that I only cover one district/town. Very little traveling for me.
Ha! My parents are both from Northern California so we don’t have any other Wolf relatives here! lol
I have been a TVBI for about 8 years (but teaching SPED for 25). Amy
I actually started 3 years ago with breads 2-12.. Some have graduated and no new ones have come in. I am in rural NY. Students with a CVi diagnosis have either moved from bigger cities or gone to city eye doctors to get the CVI diagnosis.
Hi Susan,
Nice to e-meet you.
As Dr. Christine Roman-Lantzy says, “For a child with CVI, if we’re only looking at vision without understanding how the child touches, hears, and feels, we’re missing important pieces.” Having an OT as part of the Assistive Technology (AT) team is a tremendous asset for the IEP team.
Having an Occupational Therapist as part of the Assistive Technology (AT) team is a huge asset for the IEP team—especially for students with CVI. Thanks .
Hi Amy, It will be helpful to hear from someone like you both TVBI and DHH. From my understanding , there are many children with CVI with concomitant visual and auditory impairment. Nice to e-meet you.
Amy Bickford, TVI/O&M, Itinerant in New Hampshire. I provide services from early intervention through high school graduation. I have done some O&M with adults during the summers. I am excited to increase my knowledge of CVI as it seems so much of my case load has become students diagnosed with CVI or who demonstrate CVI behaviors.
Tammy Warford, TSVI with the Kansas State School for the Blind’s Family Infant Toddler Services. I serve children up to the age of 3 and their families in Southeast Kansas. I am excited to learn new information to share with families.
Deb Davidson. I am an itinerant TBVI from NW MN. I provide services through a coop consisting of eight small school districts, K-12. I am excited to learn how to support students with CVI and to take advantage of this awesome learning opportunity.
So Glad to see you here. It will be awesome info to share between us and our regional team!
Hi Emily,
Even though I have been a TBVI for many years, I’m in a very rural area of MN and have not had much hands-on experience with CVI, I’m hoping to learn more about ways to support students with CVI from experienced teachers like you, so that I can be best prepared if and when the time arises, thanks for being here
