What are some common household items that students can use for art projects at school? What are some of your favorite “finds” at a dollar store? I want to help the school art teacher gather some interesting and unique sensory art items but I don’t know where to begin. Any help is appreciated.

I love getting yarn at the dollar store. My TVI taught me to knit in high school and I still do. I had a very precocious second grade student who wanted to learn as well. We started off with finger knitting, and all we needed was some yarn! we would do this as a relaxing activity, a reward for finishing our work, a choice activity, etc. You can also do weaving with just a piece of cardboard with slits cut in the top and bottom and yarn. This is also a fun activity if you’re working on counting you can work on Even and odd as well.
